Questions to Ask Yourself
By Patricia Ragan
1. How can you be assured that you are a true believer of Jesus Christ, a part of HIS CHURCH?
2. Are you a Christian because you go to church?
3. Have you repented? Do you continue to repent every day?
4. Is the "secret you," the one not wearing religious make-up, a lover of Christ, a do-er of His Word?
5. Do you believe that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all--that he will reveal His will to us?
6. Do we say that we have fellowship with Him (that we are Christians) but yet walk in darkness? If so, we lie and do not practice the truth. Does our lifestyle contradict what God has said to be his will?
7. Are we sensitive to sin? If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
8. When was the last time you wept over your sin? When was the last time you were broken over your sin?
9. If you are sensitive to sin, does it lead you to confession?
10. Are you sliding into sin? Are you starting to do things now, gradually, that you would not have thought of doing a month ago?
11. What is your attitude toward sin? Does God pull you back if you start to stray away?
12. Are you humble and contrite of spirit? Do you think that others agree with your answer to this question?
13. Do you tremble at His Word, or do you look for excuses or loopholes around it? For my hand made all these things, thus all these things came into being, declares the Lord, but to this one I will look, to him who is humble and contrite of spirit and trembles at my word.
14. Does His Word speak to you? Is it alive?
15. Do you go to His Word for wisdom? Do you go to His Word to understand His Law?
16. Do you now hate the sins you used to love, or do you struggle against them because you still love them?
17. Do you keep His commandments? By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
18. If you once kept His commandments, are you still keeping His commandments? Are you persevering?
19. On a scale of 1-10, where does your desire fall to walk as Jesus walked? The one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. Is this your greatest desire?
20. In what ways do you identify with Jesus?
21. How strong is your desire to be like Him?
22. Who is Christ to you? Is he Savior, Lord, Prophet, Priest and King.
23. Is He called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace?
24. Who is our brother? Who does Christ say is our brother?
25. What makes a person a brother or sister in Christ?
26. Do you love other Christians? How do we treat them?
27. Do you love the world? Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
28. Are you free from the world? Have you been set free to see Christ in His glory and follow Him?
29. Do you practice righteousness? If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of God.
30. In what ways are you being conformed to the image of Christ?
31. Are you seeking to know and to practice God's wisdom, God's Word, God's precepts? On a scale of 1-10 (1--not at all, 10--with all my heart), how would you rate yourself on seeking these things."
32. Are you striving to be holy? What does it mean to strive?
33. How are you seeking to purify yourself?
34. Can someone be a part-time Christian?
